Sold and being enjoyed by a Happy Smoker. This estate
Dunhill Bruyere grade hand made pipe made in
1980 is unique. There is no shape number for this piece as the shank is a non-standard shape. The pipe has the original mouth piece.
This pipe is flawless in all respects. There are no sand pits, no fills and the draw hole is perfectly center at the base of the chamber. The rim of the bowl is clean, like new, and has some birdseye grain. The chamber has been carefully reamed. Though this pipe was sized as a Group 4 in 1980, the chamber capacity is equivalent to a current Dunhill Group 5. I recall that in the early 1980's, Dunhill redefined the Group sizes.
The nomenclature on the right-hand side of the shank is clear and crisp; the left-hand side is slightly weak.
This piece feels fine in the hand. The pipe is well balanced. And, with the thick walls of the bowl, you'll enjoy a nice, cool smoke.
This Dunhill will make a fine addition to your collection and rotation and should provide many happy hours of use for years to come.
This is a fine way to celebrate your year of birth or some other wonderful event in 1980 - graduation, marriage, birth of a child or, perhaps all three! :-)

To remove the tobacco residue from the previous owner, the bowl has been carefully reamed and then the interior of the stem, shank and bowl of this "Previously Enjoyed Pipe" has been thoroughly alcohol-steam cleaned and sterilized using my special rig. Virtually all the oxidation has been removed from the mouthpiece. I have been careful to preserve the logo. Then the bowl and
stem have been polished with Carnauba wax and buffed with care.
