Distinction - Made by Hand
Silver band to repair minor shank damage. The band covers some of the shank stampings.

This pipe does not have the florid "L" Lane emblem as that was used only for pieces imported to the US. Based on elements of the nomenclature, I am confident that this pipe was made during the "Lane Era."

Here are some of the details.

Shank Nomenclature:

Left Side: CHARATAN'S MAKE (over) LONDON.ENGLAND (over) DISTINCTION
Right Side: MADE BY HAND

Measurements:
Length: 5 1/4"
Bowl Height: 1 3/4"
Bowl Diameter: 15/16"
Inside Diameter of smoking chamber: 5/8"
Depth of smoking chamber: 1 5/8"
The pipe weighs 0.8 oz/ 23 gr

Condition: Very Good
Stem / Bit: Replacement hand fitted hard rubber stem. There are no tooth marks on the bit. The mouth piece fits well to the shank.

To remove the tobacco residue from the previous owner, the bowl has been carefully reamed and then the interior of the stem, shank and bowl of this "Previously Enjoyed Pipe" has been thoroughly alcohol-steam cleaned and sterilized using my special rig. Virtually all the oxidation has been removed from the mouthpiece. I have been careful to preserve the logo. Then the bowl and stem have been polished with Carnauba wax and buffed with care.
